Individual prizes will be awarded to

PHASE III: CELEBRATION!

Celebration Day: October 25th

On the final day of celebration, the elementary scholars will make a very special visit to the Washington Building where they will celebrate literature through skits and presentations prepared by secondary scholars, enjoying the classics together and bringing them to life!

Individual and Class Prizes will be announced,

and the entire campus will come together in celebration of our collective achievements!

How will the donation process work?

On the day of the Kick Off Assembly, scholars will receive their donation forms from their teachers.

They attend an assembly and are encouraged to ask relatives and friends by phone, email and social media to sponsor them for a flat rate donation in support of enrichment opportunities at John Adams Academy. Information can be shared regarding the Reading/Service Challenge which will take place following the fundraiser. Families are encouraged to create their own individual goals of raising funds and logging reading/service hours.

On Collection Day, all envelopes and donations are turned in to individual teachers (elementary) or deposited into collection boxes at the morning flag ceremony (secondary).

Why aren’t we Raffling anymore?

We realize many of you have not been a part of the conversation as to “WHY” we decided to change the fundraiser. In an effort to include you in some of the discussion that has been going on for quite some time, we wanted to address the following challenges:

BACK TO BASICS

The purpose of the money being raised by PSO has always been to enhance the overall educational experience for our scholars and staff, providing parents the opportunity to have a voice in funding different projects and events throughout the school year, as well as supporting Teacher Grants. These grants pay for enhancing curriculum-based items that help support the academy for years to come. Parents will have the chance to vote on the allocation of these funds at the General PSO Board Meeting on

Tuesday, November 5th, 6-8 PM in Liberty Hall

A CLARIFIED VISION

Our Board of Directors and their administrators have encouraged us to more fully align the fundraiser with the Academy's mission, vision and 10 Core Values.

The Raffle Prizes were instigated many years ago and have served our families well, but have become increasingly more complex with the growth of our Academy. In addition, we have sensed an increasing spirit of entitlement which is counter to our culture and purpose. We must continually evaluate what we do and why we do it, ensuring we maintain our goal of "Building a Culture of Greatness" and keep to our founders’  vision of “restoring America’s heritage by developing servant leaders who are keepers and defenders of the principles of freedom for which our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor.”

FEW, BUT MIGHTY

Did you know there are only a handful of parent volunteers who accomplish this monumental fundraising event? Their efforts are truly admirable. However, in simplifying the event, we hope to encourage many more families to join the fun and get involved!

“Many hands make light work.”

Our goal is to build our community, rather than to burden it.

Those who find it challenging to contribute financially have many opportunities to participate in other rewarding and meaningful ways!

Please consider joining our Annual PSO Fundraiser ParentSquare Group or email ROS.PSO@johnadamsacademy.org to find out how YOU can help!

What should I do with my envelope?

Regardless of whether any money was collected,

please turn in your envelope on Collection Day!

Elementary scholars will turn in their envelopes to their teacher. They will be collected from classrooms by the end of the day. If a scholar is late or absent on Collection Day, envelopes should be turned in to the front desk of either office before the end of the school day.

Secondary Scholars will turn in their envelopes first thing in the morning during flag ceremony. Representatives with a collection box will be present.

Late scholars should turn their envelopes in to the front office as they arrive.

Money received after the Collection Day will be accepted,

but will not qualify for prizes.

What’s in it for my classroom?

The Parent Service Organization (PSO) accepts applications for Teacher Grants

(based on funds collected) for  staff members to apply for individual classroom needs.

“The purpose of [the Teacher Grant program] is to provide funds for activities, supplies and events that will enhance and support the scholars’ experiences here at John Adams Academy. They will be granted on a “first come, first served” basis, and should be curriculum-based, with the benefits provided being long-term for the scholars and/or the Academy. We express deep gratitude to our community and families for their generous donations, which make this Grant Program possible.”

I filled up my donation form or log sheet. How do I get another?

You can pick up another Donation Log at the front desk of either buildings.

You can print another Reading Sheet by clicking HERE.

You can print another Service Sheet by clicking HERE.

Keep all forms with your envelope and turn them in, together with any money, by the due date.

What am I raising funds for?

Our Annual PSO Fundraiser supports a myriad of enrichment opportunities for our scholars!

In the past, fundraiser money has gone to support school activities, assemblies, and other needs related to our scholar’s experience here at the school, such as: visual and performing arts, sports jerseys, curriculum supplementation, pre-approved teacher grants, library books and shelving, social events, computer programming and equipment, P.E. and playground supplies,

and much, much more!

What Does PSO Money Do?

What should my scholar wear on Celebration Day?

The JAA uniform should be worn for the entire school day.

During secondary presentations, appropriate and modest costumes and/or accessories may be worn, as called for and approved by their teachers.

Can parents and siblings participate?

Parent volunteers are needed to help with planning, promotion, decorations and collections. Parents can also help scholars make calls, send emails, share posts on social media to relatives and friends to collect donations. If you sign up to help on the day of the Celebration Day, please make childcare arrangements for younger siblings.

Sorry, non-enrolled siblings cannot participate.

I have a suggestion. Who do I share this with?

There is always room for improvement!

We gladly welcome feedback, new ideas, and/or suggestions.

Please email us at ROS.PSO@johnadamsacademy.org with subject line: “Annual PSO Fundraiser”. Also, be sure to join us on our ParentSquare group!

How can I help?

Besides supporting your scholar in their efforts, we’d love your help! We can use help from volunteers for all kinds of things like soliciting sponsors, promoting the event, supplying food and water, and sharing ideas. Perhaps you have connections with a business that would like to donate a prize. Please join our group on ParentSquare or email us at ROS.PSO@johnadamsacademy.org

Thank You!

With your help, it’s sure to be an event that is

practically perfect in every way!
